Emerging from Pandemic
What has happened in these last 2 years? Life as we’ve known it has altered, we’ve been left stranded and alone and confused. If anything I’ve learned some patience and accepted the fact I do not know and can not control what happens next. I have been fortunate to be locked down in Jamaica where there is clean air and space to walk out, fresh vegetables and a sea to swim in. Jamaica life is simple, for it to get even simpler is only a good lesson, not necessarily a hardship. Now we are facing Winter 2021/22. The island is conciously opening to visitors. We must. Jamaicas' economy depends on tourism. There are plusses to tourism, especially as it seems to be emerging. The trend toward ‘Staycations’ suit Jamaica absolutely. The Villa scene thrives and many hotels are open to excellent deals for long term stays. Everyone is working remotely. Why not work remotely from a place that is warm, blue, with space, good air and great food. I’m about to hike for the first time in a long while and I am so looking forward to putting on my boots and shaking out my backpack. It’s Robin’s Bay in St. Mary…. Easy from Ocho Rios and Oracabessa. There is a Waterfall and pristine Black Sand Beach with never another soul in site - bliss. I will time the hike meticulously and think how to rate it for difficulty. Where to rest, where to eat and what to be sure and bring - decent shoes, water, binoculars, hat & t-shirt. It is sweet when life is so simple. That’s my ambition for this season…. Let it be simple, let it be wholesome …. Lets discover a Waterfall and a deserted beach and relish in the wonder of nature and life’s infinite mysteries…
